Hi there
Looks like I may have goofed. Had a new battery fitted by Halfords on the GT4. I did point out the section in the handbook about registering the battery to the car. Blank looks in return!
Battery is the correct type, but what happens now? Do I buy an icarsoft tool? Will I get other benefits from that?
Or do I simply get the battery registered when it goes in for its imminent service at my local independant.

Oh, and please, don’t be too harsh. I was away in Canada and had to sort the battery for fitting on the day I returned. I’m not a total cheap skate!

Many thanks

Roger

When I fitted my LiteBlox battery I changed nothing and it has been fine - but its electronics are set up to mimic an AGM battery. Recoding the battery really means resetting the charging programme as it tells the ECU that there is a new battery in there and, apparently, it's recharging program is slightly different to maximise battery life. You can 'sense' the program in action if you compare the peak charging voltage as the external temperature varies. IN mine, when it is cold the voltage is higher c15.1V peak than when it is hot outside c14.8V.

If you really care then any specialist can do the reset,

If you had put in the Porsche Motorsport Lithium battery then the reset is important as the voltage and charging characteristics of that battery was v difft to the AGM lead acid.

Non-Porsche battery = Porsche Warranty issues?

This is a fair point - mine is a 2015, I use a specialist for service and maintenance and I warranty it myself !

Hi all
Thanks for the responses.
I'll wait till the service is done. Matt at Fearnsport will be doing that.

No Porsche warranty, so no concerns there.

Interesting that the trigger for the battery change was the non-working of the Apple Carplay upgrade that had been done.
It worked perfectly. Stopped working. All sorts of battery warnings. New battery. Carplay is perfect again!

Probably in good hands there then!
