It’s now 10 months since I placed my order for a base 718 and still no sign off allocation never mind delivery. I have now had to pay 4 x price increases and to be honest I am thinking I should cancel and buy used.
Has anyone who ordered in the last 10 months had a allocation or indication of when they can expect one. Dealer said they have not had a single allocation since March.

A couple of years back I had contact with Andrew Remnant the principle at OPC Bristol.
I bought a used 981 GT4 and subsequently he said I could
have the next available build slot for a 718 Spyder which I therefore put
a deposit down for.
He mentioned that I would be kept in the loop regarding build slots and availability etc.

OVER A YEAR LATER THEY HAD NOT BOTHERED TO CONTACT ME ONCE.

If I recall correctly I phoned them a couple of times over a period of many months just to be nonchalantly told there was not a build slot.
I found the service appalling- I’m not aware of many businesses which take your 3k deposit and then
just ignore you, surely out of courtesy just a call or email every 3 or 4 months to keep you informed and let you know you hadn’t been forgotten about wouldn’t do any harm?

I got my deposit back and I’d 100% never deal with Porsche Bristol again.

Don't know of any other Porsches that have had 4 price increases in 10 months.

First they removed the deposit contribution so I decided not to finance then price increase in November that they said i was protected against if i didn’t change spec.

I was then told there was another increase as it was a 23y model and i had lost the price protection - then another last week taking the total increase to just over £2500 excluding deposit contibution.

Seems a bit unfair as i am ready to proceed

In the current climate I think it makes more sense to buy used rather than be kept waiting forever and suffer price increases with no guarantee of a slot. The 718GT4, 992GTS and 992 Turbo S are mass built in huge numbers and used prices will very soon reflect this IMO. Some of the 'overs' OPCs are asking for the aformentioned cars are wildly optimistic and totally unsustainable.

Buy used, 100% I'd say - prices aren't likely to go south when the eCayman is released, and you could be waiting forever for a build slot as you won't be making them as much money as someone who is financing it. They have very limited build slots, so business wise, it makes sense for them to offer any slot to the person who will make them the most profit.

Not defending the practice, merely pointing out the obvious. It does smart for sure, but they've a captive market currently. Good luck with your quest.

Its a two edged sword at the moment I think. No way would I pay a huge premium for any used Porsche GT never mind a GTS.

At least buying new you will get the car exactly to your spec and with all the other associated benefits of buying new if you can guarantee an allocation and don't mind waiting that is arguably much better value than used even factoring in future price rises.

Btw UK GT4 build numbers hardly huge in the grand scheme and 981 GT4s still selling over list at even 7 years old.

Since 2015

981 GT4 c600+
718 GT4 c743 end 1st quarter 2022 both manual and PDK.

I waited about 9 months from order to delivery. They fixed the price on order and the dealer dobbed in the deposit contrition when it was withdrawn.
Communication throughout was poor with all kinds of tales told so I started confirming everything by email copying in the salesman/finance man etc.
they promised my fixed price and I had confirmation in my email trail so I think that helped
It was one of the dick lovatt dealers but not Bristol

Now 807 718 gt4 cars on how many left, by the time this gets updated by the end of the year we could be closer to 1000 Uk registered 718 gt4 cars.

What’s shocked me is the amount of people who are saying they have allocations.

Either way, it’s a amazing car at a great price point when ordered new.
