Another 718 GT4 enters the fold - 11mth wait, but worth it!
Discussion
Picked it up this morning, so I'm finally out of the 'allocation/waiting' thread, and TBH I'm a bit speechless and blown away! Porsche Mayfair (Justin King) were amazing from start to finish, ensuring it was a special handover. I'm very happy with the colour and spec I chose. One thing's for sure, Python Green has a multitude of hues, it really pops! Zero regrets there, and the black detail with the red flashes for contrast set it all off IMO.
From the moment I enquired about an allocation, pretty much 11 months to the day, through the build delays and unknowns, right up to handing the car over this morning, the experience was an absolute pleasure.
It's my first ever Porsche, so excuse the excitement when I uncovered it and laid eyes on it for the first time...
First impressions driving it back home (through central london weekend traffic), incredible! The PDK is a joy, buckets are comfortable, and the noise is intoxicating, I can't wait to open it up properly. For those of you waiting for yours, stick in there, it's worth it!

Thanks all for the very kind comments. I really am super-chuffed with the colour, I've had nothing but positive comments and compliments so far, and as a 3rd car weekend toy it gives me something aesthetically special as well as something mechanically specially. I can't help but smile each time I look at it.
I've been out it in today for the whole day, getting some miles on the clock to know it and explore the power band, gearbox with all the modes. Wow, it really has blown away my expectations, it feels so special, perfectly balanced and such an all-round complete package. I genuinely can't think of another sports car I'd rather have right now.

Pray tell what gifts are in the bag they gave you?
Bits and bobs, mug, die-cast model, cable, screen wipe, chocolates, nothing of any real significance, but some nice tokens. The handover was more than enough, it wasn't rushed, it felt personal, and they ensured I got to savour the enjoyment of seeing it for the first time.crashley said:
I was also told the Gt4 was invite only. That not the case at Mayfair?
Nope, when I rang around last August, I was polite, honest and upfront and said I had zero Porsche buying history but I would be wanting to place my order/deposit there and then. The vast majority of dealers I spoke too were blunt (borderline rude) and said I have no buying history so they wouldn't entertain the idea. A few said they would, but their waiting list was 20-30 deep so said it was unlikely I would get one because they only got a handful of cars a year. Then proceeded to try and sell me an 18mth old used example for £10k over list without a penny off the screen price. Mayfair, however, treated me with honesty & courtesy (as I did with them). Justin said he'd put me on the waiting list and endeavour to get me an allocation, but he couldn't promise. True to his word the allocation arrived the week before Christmas and I locked spec end of January. 3 months of production delays meant I picked it up this weekend rather then 1st week of April, but I'm not bothered, it was only a short extension over what was a long wait anyway. What that order/waiting/allocation looks like if you were to do it today I have no idea, the worlds a very different place, but in my experience doing the leg-work on the phone is your best bet.av185 said:
A bonus you missed the latest price increase.
Luckily I missed the 3x price increases and 3x interest rate rises between when I ordered and now. My dealer honoured the price I ordered back in August saving me £4500 in price rises, and also the original finance quote of 5.9%. Apparently they don't honour prices if you cross MY builds, so as I ordered when it had just gone to MY22 and it snuck in as a MY22 build before they shutdown this summer for MY23, I got the original price. Firstly, congrats! love the colour... out of interest, now that you have had the car a few days, anything about the process of pickup etc that you would change / do differently / questions you would ask / things you would check etc etc ? i'm expecting to pickup in the next few weeks so interested to know if you have any thoughts?

Thanks. Nothing big I can think of tbh, the dealer was accommodating about all my requests like no front number plate/plinth attached, some spares made up for me left in the frunk etc.One small thing, if you plan to activate the tracker, make sure you have a Porsche Telematics account setup before hand, you purchase & activate the subscription through that portal because the account needs linking to the car, it's a different account to your 'My Porsche" account. https://pcc.vodafonetelematics.com/cwp/public/welc...
Apart from that the only silly thing was not knowing where the handbrake was when I first went to drive away in it!

Congrats, great it’s finally landed, enjoy ! Any thoughts on PPF / Ceramic coating ?
It's going in for XPEL PPF at my local place which has excellent reviews, for a significantly cheaper cost than my OPC/Topaz. Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
