718 Discs and Pads
Discussion
It is worth calling an OPC for part prices. Mine has been cheaper than design 911 fior about 38 of the 40 parts I've bought.
If you get new pads and discs at Porsche they will replace the wear sensors and retaining clips. I have reused both when I've done the brakes on my Cayman (a 987, but from a look at a friends 718 while changing the wheels on it, they look very similar). Wear sensors break easily when removed so it is probably as well getting new ones to be safe (and if they have been triggered, they will need done anyway).
The caliper bolts are stretch bolts so you should use a new set each time the caliper is removed. From memory these are about £4/bolt from Porsche.
As long as you use genuine parts, the extended warranty isn't going to be an issue. Indeed, I suspect you could use OEM discs and if the looked the same the OPC wouldn't notice. For the 987, Texar made the discs IIRC. I could find zero different between the genuine discs I removed and the non Porsche boxed ones I fitted. Though it you want to be safe, just get them from Porsche.
People get very excited about the extended warranty and for sure if you go to your OPC with service stamps from an indy and obvious mods or non genuine parts then you'll have issues. But the OPC gets paid to do warranty work so when you go in for a failed wiper motor they aren't going to be scouring the car for any non-genuine parts to deny your claim. I'd a selection of warranty jobs done on mine while it was on non N-rated tyres (a warranty no no). don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting it's a good plan to put non Porsche parts on a car under extended warranty, but it's not something you need to be paranoid about if you exercise common sense.
