Just a quick one, finally found two cars I’m happy with so now looking at insurance, having never spent more than 45k on a car before, anyone have a recommendation? I might do a trackday or two? Also I notice they tend to market the cars I’m looking at 87k which seems low, never seen one at that price.
Compare the market came out at £376.00, which sounds reasonable.

ClassicLine is the go-to, and they offer track cover. But the car must be garaged.
Next best is probably Lockton, via PCGB, and covers track use on PCGB days only.
Liverpool Victoria is the best of the mainstream insurers if you don't need track cover.
Most mainstream insurers are a bit funny re. optional extras as a lot of them class them as "modifications". As the owner of a heavily optioned, lightly modified Clubsport 718 GT4 that lives on the driveway I had two insurer options - Lockton or Liverpool Victoria. No-one else would offer me cover. I suspect the roll cage was a big red flashing light...
Note that I got lots of quotes via a comparison site, but when you look at the small print re. optional extras and go direct to the insurer it can be a no-go.

I was with NFU Mutual for the first 2 years of ownership of my 98 GT4, as they offered excellent value for money, and most of the other major insurers insisted on aftermarket trackers as the car was worth over £80k at the time. Last year NFU Mutual lost the plot and all but doubled the premium for renewal, so I moved back to Direct Line, with whom I have most of my other vehicles insured. I'm middle aged, and tend not to pick up points or drive into other cars too often (yet ). Worth getting a quote from either of the above from my experience. The performance car "specialist" insurers have always been keen, but stratospherically overpriced, with offers for things I am never likely to claim on to compensate.

Thank you, fortunately I have a garage for it.
So I have to declare clubsport package for example?
Yes, you do - this excluded quite a lot if insurers for me. I too had lots of keen quotes on the comparison sites, but as soon as you add in the clubsport they get whittled down. I also wanted track cover, ended up with A-Plan who insisted on garage and tracker. So I have to declare clubsport package for example?

VTECMatt - if you have the car garaged you'll have more options as BobM says, A-Plan were also recommended to me so definitely worth checking out along with ClassicLine and Lockton (if you're a member of PCGB).

Thank you appreciate it, glad I asked now. Quotes from Classicline who I’ve used before on my Elise’s have come back favourable.
Hi Matt,I'm insured on a 997 GT3 with the AA, called them up after getting a quote on the comparison websites and told them about Clubsport spec, no tracker etc. No problem.
naturally no trackdays or agreed value.
