Hi,

My OPC has mentioned that they fit PPF, I think it’s XPEL, and that they might be better experienced to do it.

Has anyone had their OPC fit their PPF ?

Just wondered if it might be the best and easiest option to go for.

Thanks

OPC & Skill = 0/10

The best people to fit PPF which is insane to fit properly = a PPF specialist

The only thing an OPC can do is to officially not void your warranty lol

He does indeed make some valid points and that's why I have never bothered paying out thousands to fit PPF for what will ultimately be to the benefit of the next owner.

Well yes, except he's missing the point that it can be removed, cleaned up, and re-wrapped, avoiding a load of paint work. Those grubby looking edges are not really apparent when the job is done well (couple of unavoidable ones on my 718, but only obvious to me so far). And the bit that's really missing for me... A stone chip that looks obvious, but hasn't broken into the paint? That's pretty much the whole reason I have PPF on my front bumper. If it can look reasonable for 15k miles and then get rewrapped, it will have saved me on paint, and the car will still be as it left the factory.

Whole car PPF? Really bad idea in my mind. Just go for the bits that are going to get stone chips to the point where a respray might be required within the first few years of ownership. As for protecting the investment of future buyers? None of them for sale just now, it's all entirely selfish!

Don't think the OPCs fit the PPF. They have local partners, so would ask who would do it, and check their reputation.

Interesting - so they do the Xpel stuff. Very relevant for me, as am also working out what to do re my car when it comes in Sept, and have been offered Xpel by my dealer.

Thanks for posting this - it's very interesting and he articulates my views on PPF very well. It needs to be seen as sacrificial and replaced when damaged but because of the cost no-one does. I'm also concerned about damage to the paintwork when it's removed which is why I don't bother with it.

Mind you, I'm planning on keeping my GT4 for a loooooong time so I'm more than happy paying for some paint as and when it's needed and I reckon it'll be more cost effective too. GT cars should have some patina anyway wink
