Random Q - what is the minimum space needed to exit drivers side. I have quite a narrow garage (2.45m) and wondering if I can still exit 718 (albeit with a squeeze) when parked in garage.. conscious as a two door it has longer doors.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

I'm sure you'll be ok.

Our garage door is only 2.1m wide and our Cayman fits through this fairly easily (but you can never be complacent and I do take it steady!). In fact the door is too narrow to fit a Mustang through it and an F Type was going to be a very tight squeeze.

The width inside the garage is 2.8m and that gives a fair bit of clearance. I bought some foam for the garage wall so I can just open the driver's door straight on to it.

Here are a couple of pictures. Hope this helps.

You will be fine. My last place was same width. Just add some old carpet or underlay on the wall and push the seat right back to get in/out.

Also wear jeans with no studs on pockets as you will be in contact with the panels.

Thanks. Yep, have some floor foam tile on the wall from when I had previous car in the garage! I’d feel a bit of a Wally picking one up and not being able to get out of it!!!

This is my old 718S but of course much the same thing as your Cayman. Make sure you put something soft on the wall to protect the door, and jobs a goodun.

My 981 CS was a very tight squeeze in my old 1930's garage. Made worse by going in at angle due to shared drive. I positioned an old mirror at lh corner of garage so that I could just exactly how close the front ns was. This allowed about 25-30deg opening of the drivers door to squeeze through, but helps hugely if you fully drop the window before getting out/in.

Lowering the window is a good idea, gives you that little bit extra room. Just my 2p.
