Quick question for GT4 owners, I swapped my 981 GTS for a 16 reg GT4 on Saturday and on the run back on the A1 at a 70 mph cruise noticed the water temp at 105 C , whereas both my previous Caymans never went over 90 however they were driven.
Coolant level is spot on so no leaks, and car had OPC service last week. I would have thought with the extra rad etc on the GT4 it should run at 90 also. ( still in the safe zone on the gauge)

They run hot.
When the car needs to, it will automatically open 3rd rad thermostat and will immediately take 15-20° off.
You can press Sport button if you want to do this manually.

Interesting as the 718 GT4 runs way hotter than my 981 did. On a Lakeland trip last weekend 105 degrees was norm with 15 degree external temp.

Newer GT3s also run hotter than those of old. But only around 90 degrees. Quicker to warm up though.

And the oil temperature often runs hotter than the water temperature ....

As T says, all temperatures suddenly drop when the third rad opens ....

As all have said, completely normal, my '16 GT4 is exactly the same. Oil takes ages to come up to temperature though, and water not fast to warm up either. If you pop it into "Sport" mode (I always do for track days, like the blipper) both come down to about 90ish.

Great cars, hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.

They run hot for emissions, switch to sport mode and watch the oil/water temperature drop as it opens third rad, I always did this a few miles before arriving home to cool engine before putting away

Thanks Guys, as usual superb response from PHers as usual.
Three things noticed on first drive Steering 20 to 30 % better than my GTS, Brakes need a firmer push but I will soon get used to that, and a car specific thing- the A/C is a lot better it was 24 on Saturday.
