Rs being the moniker for ultimate lap times, i cant help but wonder if the Spyder is having an identity crisis in RS guise.
No doubt Porsche will have people queuing at the doors to buy them, but cant help but wonder what the point of an RS Spyder is?

Good point - maybe to remind the driver of this:

I reckon even in the Cayman RS the sound will get on your nerves after a while. Its a 5 minute wonder.

The thing is engine noise is probably one of my absolute favourite things in a car (after great handling) - I would absolutely love it, I reckon.

not to that level surely. Imagine going on a motorway for a few hours with that racket inches from your ear drums.

A Spyder with the gt4rs engine would be epic, my dream car! Just a shame it will be only mucky flippers and DPs “chums” that get a look in!

If your getting a Spyder RS that wont be your motorway car I can assure you. My GT4RS is due to be delivered mid to end of next month, The only time that will see the motorway is on the way to track and that's it. I'd sooner have a headache from the car on the motorway than have a quiet boring sound coming from it.

It’s an interesting one, excessive engine noise. I have tinnitus nowadays and I attribute a fair bit of that to overly noisy cars over 30/40 years. So, while I still love a car to make a good noise, I can’t really enjoy it the same nowadays as I listen to music through noise cancelling headphones while driving my Exige and Caterham. I’ve still got my name down for an RS Spyder mind you smile.

Fugly without the flying buttresses.
Just have to keep the hood down then

I'm sure the finished article will have have a neat solution with flying buttresses maintained as normal, shouldn't be too difficult.

This all day - track days and fun days. The rest of the time, I'll be in one of my other cars wink

I’d take one all day over the coupe. Would be a fantastic car.

Coupe looks like Rebecca Vardy designed it.

Treat it as a Caterham, the hood would never be up. Get it to the Alps, you’d never look back.

Even with the roof up the first Spyder was very pretty ... to my eye.

True to the lightweight ethos, feelsome hydraulic steering, and plenty fast enough ... lovely.
