Hi, can anyone with experience of the cayman 718 bi xenon non pdls headlights share their opinions plse. Are they bright enough for night driving on dipped and main beam?

No issues at all. 2019/69 Cayman GTS 2.5 F4T.

Yes plenty bright…..

They just don’t steer round corners with you like the PDLS.

They definitely don’t look as pretty as the 4 wee LEDs on the highest spec lights, but I wasn’t bothered on my GT4 and £1300 was better spent on other bits.

You’ll have no trouble blinding other drivers, I used to have to use the force in my old air cooled cars at night

IIRC, the bi-xenon headlights (without PDLS) are 25W Xenon, but the bi-xenon headlamps with PDLS are 35W, (different bulbs and ballasts
the 25W lamps are reportedly poor, the 35W PDLS and OK, the LED PDLS+ are best.

I had the basic 25w Xenons on my previous Cayman. I was quite disappointed with them and found them barely adequate. They are not powerful enough to require headlamp washers, all my previous cars with Xenons had washers.

Our current Cayman has the LED PDLS+ lamps and they are excellent and a significant improvement. It was one of the first options I picked.

If Dacia and Ford, amongst others, can fit LED headlamps as standard to all their new cars then I'm sure Porsche could stretch to it.

The 25w xenons are a big improvement on my 987 halogens for sure but that said posters coming from BMW in particular seem to find them noticeably less bright. Pdls are 35w I believe…

They’re not that great TBH, but the top spec LEDs are absolutely superb.

As mentioned above, the standard ones aren’t full fat xenons, hence the lack of washers. I have the middle option, PDSL. Certainly bright enough for me and also pivot into corners. Helpful if you’re driving in a more rural area IMO without street lighting. Opted for them initially as a bit of a cosmetic option, you still get the four point running lights on those, similar to PDSL+ but they are around the bulb rather than the wider set up on the former. Standard lights at the time just used a parking light or similar for running lights. May well have changed now, but a worthwhile upgrade at the time.
