Why not this car: Cayman S
Discussion
Are there any reasons not to buy this car. It has all the options. i understand it is not from an approved dealer, but it has all the extra goodies and apart from being a bit old, I could not see any reason for why not. I know there are experts here. Just thinking about it, no firm commitment yet

Have you seen it in the flesh? Because the photos are terrible. Not sure the real colour is anywhere near that of the photos. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202201051...
Thanks
I think it’s a great looking motor.

Miami is rather marmite as a colour but generally sells ok but be aware the insipid grey interior is not as good as black with Miami which will put many potential buyers off.
Has the car a proper Porsche history?
Any Porsche warranty?
How many owners?
It has full Porsche service history Has the car a proper Porsche history?

They have sold accident damaged cars in the past so I would get it properly checked over first make sure it is all original
Are you talking of getting checked physically? As HPI check did not record the car as stolen or write off (from insurance records). Their cars are RAC/AA approved and come with 6 month of AA/RAC warranty I would be inclined to request the car is inspected at an OPC with a view to placing an official Porsche warranty on it especially bearing in mind you say it has a full Porsche history. They would also check whether the bodywork warranty is intact which would be void if it has had any unofficial repairs outside the OPC network so unapproved.
If the dealer refuses then this would sound alarm bells and I would find another car.
This is a good way of testing the dealer and their confidence or lack of it in the car they are selling.
The car is not particularly cheap ££ btw.

Being a turbo'd motor, and not at an OPC, I'd be wanting to know if it's had a remap. That might explain why it's out of the OPC network, and I think it might also prevent you or anyone else ever putting the Porsche extended warranty on it.
Definitely worth getting a PPI if you're seriously interested in it.

Would anybody take nearly new, less than 600 mileage, few month old, £8000.00 cheaper Toyota GR Yaris over this Porsche Cayman S?

Are Porsches that unreliable that the manufacturer’s warranty is almost a mustDefinitely worth getting a PPI if you're seriously interested in it.
My current BMW M6 costs me about £87/month with £250.00 excess (the best rate for the former approved used). I have been paying this for almost 2 years now without any warranty claim. I am beginning to question whether it is worth it.

Warranty discussion will go on and on, at £660 a year i personally think the official warranty is good value and if you need to claim they do seem to pay out unlike other third party providers as documented on these forums. Caveat this with always keeping it in the opc network and using only Porsche parts, not cheap…
If you’re not doing much mileage it’s probably less of an issue.
