Hi everyone. I’m looking at buying my first Porsche; a 718 gts 4.0. I have found a car with fixed back 918 carbon fibre bucket seats. Im wondering if anyone has any experience of these seats? Are they comfortable, is the seating position too upright and are they suitable as a daily? I have researched a little and found out that some appear to have adjustable backs? I haven’t seen the car in person. Any advice appreciated plse

Totally person dependent, you'd need to try them. They don't recline, only the older buckets on pre-718 cars do that.

For me they're one of the best seats I've ever sat in - for others, they're too upright and a real pain to get in to or out of.

You really need to try them for yourself. I went from a 981 CS to a 981 GT4… The 918 seats were a want but having had a prolapsed disc and a back op trying them, for me, was essential. I find them very comfortable and in fact, not as upright as I was expecting. Being tall and having long legs I could actually do with them being a little more upright.
I love the 918 seats but I’m not sure I’d want to have them in a daily.

Based on my limited research (talking to a few people) they seem to suit tall people ie not me. When I've sat in them they've been too upright, despite the limited adjustability.

They're excellent seats though, so if you try them and like them then I'd go for it.

I have the 18 ways in my Boxster and Macan. They're the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. A five hour drive in them in a breeze. They also hold me laterally but not as much as the buckets would. And I try not to think about the massive weight they and their motors add to the car.

BTW I've only had my Boxster 4.0 for 6 weeks but it's a sublime car. Am supposed to trade it for the GT3 in September but am seriously doing the man maths to justify keeping both. It's that good.

I have buckets in my 718 Boxster GTS. I wouldn't have spec'd them if I was buying new, but I'm enjoying them. They do feel a bit upright at first, however I've driven for over 4 hours straight a couple of times and found that once I got used to them they were comfortable and supportive. I think you can get brackets to add a few degrees extra 'tilt' to them if you prefer a slightly more reclined seat.

I don't know if I'd have them on a daily driver, if for no other reason than they make getting in and out a bit tricky (bolster protectors have removed a bit of worry about damaging them though!).

I've just tilted mine back using the readily available alloy seat adjusters you can buy. Now perfect rather than bolt upright. Fabulous seats

I think this is the best option.

I love bucket seats and spec them on all my cars.
I'm 5'10" 75Kg athletic build but strangely the 918 seats were too upright for me .
I like to sit close to the steering wheel and have my foot all the way down on the clutch in a manual car and it wasn't a great driving position.
I think it might of been better in a PDK car but the seat put me off a manual car and I didnt want comfort seats either.

The above adjustment might have made it work
