Anyone know what "Index" refers to on 986 headlights?

Looking to replace both headlights with used units, mine say "index 13" most of the available ones are index 11 or 12.

Anyone know what it refers to / if they will be ok?

I had assumed that all halogen pre-facelift 986 and 996 headlights were interchangeable...

I have no idea but will watch with interest as Porsche now list a windscreen option as 'with wedge'. Nobody knows wtf that is either.

Andy at Firstglass in Poole did the windscreen in my 986 last year, can't remember if he mentioned a wedge...

In the windscreen glossary of terms, wedge refers to the 'wedge piece' on windscreens for cars with HUD. Of course this doesn't apply here.

Indeed, I think you pointed me in his direction a few years ago after Autoglass had 5 failed attempts to replace a screen in an X5 for me.

I think Andy has done 4 of mine now, and an excellent job on all of them.

I can’t answer the index question but I do remember that the internals of the launch 996 and 986 were different - reflectors were different pattern/shape ( these things seemed important to me at the time !,, )

Thanks, I would be looking to replace the pair together, so I don't mind about reflector patterns etc, just want to be confident they will work.
