Noise on startup (squealing/screeching)
Discussion
It doesn’t look like the audio works in my video. I’ve subsequently found out it’s the starter motor. The link below (at 40 seconds in) is the exact noise I’m experiencing.
So now my question is, bearing in mind the car is 6 weeks old (to me) and is still within the 6 month warranty - what should I be expecting/asking from the specialist I purchased it from?

I would be happy with a fix. Starters are not very complicated (sorry to misunderstand the question), but it depends a little on what's bust. I wouldn't sweat it and let them decide how to do it
No apology needed! I didn’t pose my question very well. Your thoughts are very much appreciated.I’m a little late to the party here. I got my Boxster S last week and it was making the same noise. There’s two mind sets here, as either way the starter has to come out.
Replacing it would give you a nice new starter, but they’re expensive. Or, strip and lube. I chose option 2. Took it out, stripes it down, lubed her up and back in. Cost £0.00
