What would a 986 2.7 be like with a 2.5 gearbox?

If the lower ratio gearbox of the 2.5 is a better match for that size of engine, what do you think the driving experience would be like if it was mated to a 2.7? Seems 2.5 boxes go for around £250 - could this provide a decent torque upgrade for the outlay (obviously at the sake of top end - which the 2.5 isn't chasing anyway, it seems)?
