Just curious how owners on here approach buying cars from non-Porsche specalists, particuarly when there is no (or very limited warranty) offered?

Potentially looking at a £50k+ purchase price & although I'll be trading up from an existing Cayman knowing the common things to look for I'm just curious how others go about it.

A lot of the Porsche Independents offer Pre-purchase inspections but these seem to be for private buys. Less logistical for a vehicle that is in a different part of the country.

Thanks

I used these guys.

It was a private sale I went for in the end, but I did discuss buying from traders with them. It was going to be no problem, but that may depend on which dealer you're buying from.

You can get an OPC so do the 111 check. This will give you an idea of what would need doing if you wanted an extended warranty

I used them, too, even though I was buying from a well-know reputable indy.

My attitude is "No inspection, no purchase." Why would an honest dealer get sniffy about an inspection?

I agree.
I would maybe take a newer car without, but anything older, or above a price point, I would want an inspection.

That's buying from a specialist or otherwise, would make no difference.

Alternatively, I'd want to inpect it fully myself.

After a couple of very expensive mistakes, I swallowed my ego and now employ a professional!

I recently bought my 981 GT4 from a small independent dealer specialising Mercs, BMW and Audi. Viewed the car, decided it was for me but before proceeding said I wanted it to have an OPC 111 check. No problem. They booked it into OPC and dropped it off. Passed with no issues. The dealer even offered to contribute toward the OPC warranty which was much appreciated and accepted. Happy days.
Spending that kind of money a 111 check/inspection is a no brainer for peace of mind.
