Piecing together the 2nd report from dealers and the top report on investment it looks like it looks like the next-gen 718 will become a mid-engined style BEV launching next year or the year after. I know this will probably get a mixed response on here considering the lack of really sporty BEV offerings this is going to be exciting. Especially if it looks like the Mission-R concept as is rumoured.

Porsche has a pretty visible strategy around 'concepts', drivable 'prototype models' and providing cars at certain events. The Mission R has done the rounds recently and likely to do so for at least 6 months:

Since this is early in the cycle for Porsche, its safe to say that the Mission R is likely to be pretty close to what the new Boxster / Cayman will be. Though, its likely to be 2024 at the very earliest. Porsche tends to not launch a multiple new platforms in a single year. Next year is the Macan EV and its likely that the Boxster / Cayman will come the year after.
Though, their product cycles tend to be new model, 2 years later and you get the refresh and expanded range, 1-2 years later you get the GTS and then a light refresh a year later - so 5-6 years total on the product cycle. Its not always this case since they just launched the Taycan GTS in less than 2 years after initial launch. But the Macan is a good illustration - final refresh for 22/23 model year with revised GTS model and now the new T model. The new EV will come next year while the ICE models will likely get a light refresh for the '24 model year before dropping off in '25. You can see where the Boxster / Cayman will fit into this - Porsche does a very good job of managing demand to delivery to maintain higher prices.
