I’ve picked up a new 981 Cayman 2.7, so thought I’d put a quick post on here.

It’s a PDK, with a pretty decent spec including PSE, Sports seats, Sport Design steering wheel, 20” Turbo design wheels, Nav, heated seats, cruise, DAB, Bluetooth, and a few other bits like the crest on the seats. I’ve also picked up a set of brand new 19” wheels with new Michelin Pilot Alpin winter tyres, so I can keep my Turbos in tip top condition, away from the salt - so I’ve now fitted them and plan to use them from November to March.

I’m very pleased with it so far, I have to say in full manual, sport mode, with the valves open, it’s an absolute joy on the twisties. What a noise - utterly addictive. It’s so easy to drive on longer runs too (and very economical), when you can’t be bothered to be “on it”.

I think the only slight negative is the mileage being a little higher than I wanted at 58k. I’m not too concerned about resale though as I plan to enjoy it and I picked it up for a very good price (in my view) - bought from Ashgoods Porsche near Windsor.

I’m sure I’ll have a few questions, it isn’t my first Porsche (had a 986 back in 2004) but I’m certainly no expert.

So far I’ve fitted a fly lead for my battery charger, changed the headlamp bulbs, and adjusted the spoiler so it sits right when down. I have a few more things planned like Zunsport front grilles, red calipers, etc.

Here are a few photos. White isn’t normally a colour I’d choose but I have to say it works very well indeed on the Cayman 981.

Mine's the same. I'm on 58k (bought at 13k) and no issues other than a dead battery. Changed to Bosch.
I have Zunsports all round.
What did you change the bulbs to, and why?

I just wanted to change the standard H7 bulbs to Osram Nightbreaker Lasers, so they are about as good as they can be…

Many congratulations on you purchase, a lovely looking car but I am a bit biased, having purchased a very similar looking one, but the 3,4 s two weeks ago (my first Porsche). White was the only colour choice for me and my first white car so I am already learning how challenging it is to keep it looking great :-) I also went for PDK, not wanting a manual anymore and absolutely love it.

My first drive was an 80mile trip back late at night and I was worried the lights were going to be a let down as our other cars are LED, but was pleasantly surprised at how good they were.

Enjoy!

The S has Xenons, albeit the (lower-power?) non-self-levelling type. Plenty good enough for night driving in my experience.

I bought my white 981 from Ashgoods just under 12 months ago now, still puts a massive smile on my face every time I drive it. I've taken mine past 70k recently, there are quite a few with 'higher' mileage on them now, imo they're a car to be used!

Did you get the battery coded? Mine is on it's way out, planning a new one very soon.
