718 GT4 air inlet grille recall
Discussion
I've received a recall notification letter for my 2021 718 GT4 regarding "retrofit or replace air inlet grille". Apparently I might throw a lighted cigarette out of my window, it get sucked into the engine, and the car go up in flames. Unlikely as I don't smoke or litter.
Is this just GT4 or other models?
Is this just for those having specified smoker pack?!
Has anyone had the work done?
Is there any risk that a revised air intake grille having "tighter meshed inlets" might adversely affect engine power output?

I had the same letter for my GTS 4.0.

Interesting that this has popped up again.
There was similar thing at the 4-pot 718 launch.
Yes I had the recall for the same thing done on my previous Cayman S. I sold that car to my dad so I assume it will need the same change done again! There was similar thing at the 4-pot 718 launch.

According to my OPC it's an error and there's no action required for my car. From what they said, it seemed to suggest that it doesn't apply to the 4.0 cars.
Anyone else spoken to their dealership?
OPC are currently dealing with the faulty Tracker on the B25. I suggested they did the recall at the same time. However, they had this message from Porsche this afternoon, Anyone else spoken to their dealership?
" If anyone has any of the following models coming into the workshop that require WMH7, please do not carry out the work until you receive further information.
718 Boxster/Cayman GT4, Spyder & GTS 4.0 and 25th anniversary special model”

I spoke to my OPC - they said it did apply to mine (GTS 4.0) but they didn't see it as an urgent issue so advised me to wait until it was in for service.Anyone else spoken to their dealership?
Just had the letter re my 2021 Spyder - also had recall on my previous 718 GTS. Being a non smoker and therefore unlikely to throw a cigar out of the window and as it already has grills in the intakes ( which my GTS did not) I will leave it until the car goes in for its first service ( in 18 months).
I've spoken to my OPC's Service Manager and he says that for GT models, Spyder and 4.0 GTS the recall is not applicable and the notifications have been sent out in error. Porsche AG sent out a communication about this to him around 2pm this afternoon.
So if your 4.0 engined car is booked in for the work to be done, I'd give your OPC another call before you have a wasted trip.
