986 3.2 - Battery Size / Power / AGM - Advice
Discussion
Hi All
My Boxster has been struggling to start lately. Looked into when it last got a battery and it would appear the last battery was in 2010.
I thought buying a new one would be a straightforward process, however, the manual contains no guidance as to what specs you would need.
I put my reg number into tayna batteries and it brings up a list of batteries that are 278mm in length, but I've measured mine and it's over 300mm in length, I'd guess 315mm as ECP also brings up this size (but they are a total rip off).
I then also read this article singing the praises of AGM batteries:
https://boxstertips.com/best-battery-for-your-pors...
So what do I actually need? What specifications should I be looking for? Are the AGM batteries really worth it?
The car lives outside in the North East, so regular cold winters are the order of the day.
I was looking into Bosch and Varta batteries, but if anyone has any specific suggestions then fire away.
Thanks in advance.

You just need an 096 or 110 fitment. A Yuasa, Exide, Varta, Bosch S4/5 are all much of a muchness. Get the most CCA for your money. Tayna, GSF, ECP sell most of these so just by from the cheapest.
I ended up ordering a 110 fitment Bosch S5010 which seemed to be about the best you could buy, still well under 100 notes. Thanks for your help!Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
