louder start up / overall sound 987
Discussion
I've got my boxster booked in with this guy in January for exhaust mod. He's very reasonably priced and well reviewed. Bedfordshire way: https://www.facebook.com/Paulscarwelding/
I’m in the same position: a 987.1 that needs an exhaust tweek. My three main options at the moment are the Carnewal, Hayward and Scott or PCW Exhausts (I believe these last two are pretty much identical mods). It’s so hard to get a good idea of what these sound like on YouTube clips. The Carnewal seems to be much more of a low down rumble, whereas the other two sound more raspy. I’m not interested in going for a full-on Fabspeed replacement - I’m not sure my insurance company would be that obliging!
Is there anyone out there in London or Herts who has had one of these done? I’d love to have a listen in the flesh. I’m in Islington but happy to travel a bit. Please PM me if you’re happy to give me a demo.
OP, apologies for hijacking your thread but this looked like the perfect place to post.

Just for awareness. Had a genuine Porsche PSE fitted to my 991.1, no performance enhancement. Told the insurance Co and expected a cheeky but unnecessary £50 premium hike. They gave 2 week notice of cancellation of cover as it was now modified!!!
Car is in countryside location, garaged with 2 named (senior) drivers with 12 yrs no claims, for context.

That’s what worries me. My 911 is insured through Locktons who don’t give a damn about mods - they understand us Porsche owners and, unless we’ve gone for a full-on stage 3 tune and 100bhp increase, are fine. Unfortunately the Boxster is with a boggo high street insurer who’ll probably see me as a high risk once I declare a modded exhaust. im also in herts area.
currently booked in for hayward and scott bypass as pcw didnt get back to me
what i want is alot louder start up, and more deeper sound
previous cars always had res deletes and DP's. im after something like that that doesn't cost crazy amounts
I too left a message with PCW but he didn’t get back. I understand he’s a one-man band so he’s probably completely rammed at the moment. I may book in with H&S for the new year, although I know they’re really busy. currently booked in for hayward and scott bypass as pcw didnt get back to me

As far as I’ve heard PCW and H&S’s mod give a more raspy, high-end sound. Carnewal’s exhaust is much deeper.
Please do drop me a PM when you’ve had yours done. I’d love to have a listen. The YouTube clips just don’t give a good representation of the sound. My benchmark is can I drive through the Hatfield tunnel and make myself laugh! If I do then job done. I know race headers etc would give me amazing results but I want to keep everything as stock as possible.

Why would you feel the need to tell the insurance company about an OEM piece of equipment that it could have had straight from the manufacturer? Car is in countryside location, garaged with 2 named (senior) drivers with 12 yrs no claims, for context.

Because it wouldn’t have been on the build spec sheet and I didn’t think it would affect premium anyway. Any insurer that faces an expensive claim is going to look for a get out, I’ve dealt with loss adjusters before.
