Cayman 981 s known issues...think i have all the info i nee
Discussion
I have been doing a good amount of swatting up on the 981 and below seem to be the known/common issues. I have all but decided i won't go for a Porsche warranty myself (instead put money aside for issues) as the car I am buying was just serviced by an indy last month. The first 2 services were OPC and second 2 the same porsche indy, only 2 owners etc so a strong history.
- Dynamic engine mounts that come as a part of sports chrono. £1200-1500 per side all in.
- Sticking exhaust actuators. Porsche replace an entire back box BUT many seem to check the actuators frequently by manually moving them and also grease the actuator rods to prevent/reduce likelihood the happening.
- Steering racks have been known to fail but this is very rare. Up to £3500 to replace the steering rack.
- I have just read about PDK failures but there doesn't seem to be a lot of info in terms of frequency/likelihood. Very expensive to replace!
Any thoughts?

Dont forget the flaky PCM! Boards fail inside and your looking at around 2.5k from Porsche or 1k+ to attempt to repair it.
You will notice there are always a few on Ebay - usually ones that have been repaired and now being re-sold.
I had mine got - system just re-boots constantly. Have a look on line under PCM rebooting.

I've had 2 dynamic engine mounts fail, the nearside exhaust actuator fail and then the nearside exhaust replaced after the exhaust valve jammed.- Dynamic engine mounts that come as a part of sports chrono. £1200-1500 per side all in.

Thankfully all warranty repairs. That's in just over 5yrs in ownership.
