So, do people think this will happen? If so, interested to understand why you believe so/what’s the evidence? smile

Yes, will likely happen.
Likely a MY23 car and launch, following the GT4 RS.

No mules yet, but no doubt it will run on GT4 RS underpinnings.. so not too much to learn. It’s easy money for Porsche and then can amortise the development cost of the GT4 RS power train.

There was a leaked photo showing the tentative launch date.

Based on this (posted on Rennlist on 6th Sept) it's coming, and given how right it seems to be about the GT4RS which is due to launch on the 16th/17th November, it looks like it'll be the swan song for the Boxster and probably the whole 718 series:

I think it might be the Sport Classic that's based on the Turbo/Turbo S?

Saw 3RS at Industry Pool last week and I think they're a good while off production. The cars they've been running are pretty early mules. I'd imagine potentially you're looking at 12-18 months minimum.

Agreed, there are plenty of GT3s to be produced yet before they switch to RS production.

Quite like the idea of an RS Spyder. Although it would be nice to have the chance to buy a GT4 RS I wouldnt part with my 991 RS for one and in reality I have no need for both. A run out special, slightly harder-core Boxster Spyder based on the 4RS really appeals.

Lovely thought, but probably a bit hardcore.

I think hardcore’ish is the point. Is the GT4 RS soft?

The Bergspyder was a design study albeit standard underpinnings but how else might we imagine an RS Spyder?

I just don’t think they’d make a single seat, no roof, no windscreen production model. (Though I’m sure they’d be enough buyers out there anyway). It would be pretty special, but I just don’t see it.

I imagine the RS Spyder would obviously have all the same mods underneath as a GT4 RS, with perhaps a larger fixed wing and larger side inlet surrounds. Maybe carbon bonnet and rear deck instead of aluminum. Not sure how they’d incorporate the rear window intakes from the 4RS.

Or maybe it would be harder underneath but outwardly have a bit of a GT3 Touring vibe with only minor exterior mods.
