Hi All - any recommendations ? I asked one OPC who quoted me £600, told me they'd need the car in for 8-9 hours and to book it in for a couple of days which all seemed a bit excessive to me...

South-east? Narrow it down a bit?

If Center Gravity is within a two hour drive I’d spend a day taking the car there….there’s Geo alignment and there’s CG. I live a two hour drive and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Have had Geo done on three cars this year…one by RPM and two by CG. The cars done by CG felt markedly different and the whole process is so thorough and well explained it is ridiculous.

I do mine for £77 an hour including corner weighting and no more than 2 hours.

You guys over thinking what is a simple process.

If you know what you want re alignment specs then just set it to a reasonable less aggressive track setup and off you go. If you drive a lot ie tyres wear out before 4 years then use factory. if you only do sunday drives and odd track day, just use the method above. Corner weighting is optional BTW.

I am too poor a driver to go into minutia.

Depends how far away you are from it, but the Alignment Centre in Southampton have a faultless reputation. There's a long thread on them in the south coast section of the forum. I've been using them for nearly 20 years. Never more than £60 for me. Usually less.

GC are brilliant.
TDI in Essex are good. I don't especially like the way they set a car up but that's my preference. Good engineers though.

RPM seem to know their onions.

A few years ago now, but they wouldn't share the spec they had just used on my Cayman (no before and after print out), the steering wheel wasn't straight and the car didn't drive any differently.

Has anyone experience of using Tognola Engineering Porsche Independent in Datchet for a GEO? Asking as he’s very local, thanks.

RPM could never get my 996 geo right.
Ben at String Theory transformed the car. Really brilliant.
When the car was on standard suspension, Blackboots/ Wheels-in-motion did a good job (also cheap and quick).

Centre Gravity has always been far from me, but if i had not found String Theory i would have bit the bullet and gone.

After getting it wrong a few times, i now believe a good geo, adapted to your kind of driving, is one of the most important things to do with a Porsche, and very few know how to get it right (or have the patience i guess). There are a few names that come up again and again like CG, Fern, etc. I would urge you to invest the time and money to get it right.

Centre gravity

Did my Tuscan and turned it into a car which can actually be used. It now flies down B roads instead of being dragged across them.

It’s not just the alignment, they sort ride heights, tyre pressures, corner weights.

Will go again in a different car one day!
