981 GT4 Fabspeed 200 cell headers
Discussion
Hi there
Always a risk joining a forum at a late stage! Apologies.
After many years of GT3s, and then odd ball stuff, I have now bought a 981 GT4. Pretty good car!
As I find my feet, there looks to be a lot of discussion around headers, throttle bodies etc.
Headers/ Manifolds. A lot of respect for the Fabspeed 200 cell cats. Are these easily available?
How good are they as a first stage in upgrading? What alternatives are there to Fabspeed?
If there are threads, and I’m sure there are, please point me to them!
Many thanks
Roger

Shoot me an email and I can get you set up. - John@Fabspeed.com
HJS cats are the gold standard, it is a fact that all catalysts can deteriorate, it all depends on driving style and fuel type! In 99.9% of cases, you will have no issues, but if you're running E85 and a fireball tune, you're gonna be the.01%
Lots of options for 981 Sports headers with integrated 200cell cat.
M&M/FVD
Cargraphics
Soul
And as per the title, Fabspeed.
Other styles are available also which relocate the cat to further down the exhaust path.
As for the longevity of cats… As John says, HJS are the gold standard, used by all of the above.
Usually no issues. But of course with really really extended track use… I’m taking multiple endurance race style running or bad fuel/tune, you can have issues. Just like you would with and OEM cat. These can fail also.
There are a few existing 981 GT4 mods threads. I’ll try to find the ones with the most recent contributions.

HJS metallic substrates are as good as they get, IF they fail, it's normally due to failed O2 sensors and the resultant under/over-fuelling that kills them, or as others have said, a poor tune.
Personally I'd stick with the Cargraphic, M & M or FVD products.
Hi guys
This is good stuff! Have to admit the car is a bit of a gem. Still enthralled by its compact agility, its pace and its comfort. Looks nice, too!
So, this is a real keeper, it's great to be back in the Porsche world. Not going to track it, but it will do 15K miles a year at least.
I get the impression that the car was genuinely well-received and amazed anyone who drove one.
Then as always with anything perceived as "perfect" people had clever ideas!
What I am looking to do is simply address the base concerns....intake and throttle body plus manifolds.
I'll have a read through the threads suggested and come back with any queries
Really appreciate talking with some old names on the forum again......oh and by the way the SVR F Type was fun, but only in a straight line!!
