I'm about to order these for the front of my 987.2S and just looking to check the quality/function is considered OK before I push the button.
I couldn't find any opinions from searching.
Thanks,
Dunc.
The early iterations had some issues that were quickly sorted, since then, I've not heard anything negative about them. How much are they ? As unless they're considerably cheaper than the 997 GT/3Cup items, I'd stick with the OE Motorsport parts.I couldn't find any opinions from searching.
Thanks,
Dunc.
Apologies for missing these responses.
JustGREENI, there was a set on ebay for approx £400 - S/H but never fitted. They sold before I got them though, the usual new price is £500 +VAT. The problem comes with castor when increasing the front camber and to reset that you need an adjustable lower trailing arm, which adds to the cost again. That's my understanding anyway.
The other option is a camber plate for the top, which are very expensive for what they are in my opinion, plus you've got a solid joint at the top after fitting. So depending on what you're after this may or may not be suitable.
Slippy, after further research I got to the bottom of the early issues and know what to avoid. How much are the motorsport ones? Do they require an adjustable lower trailing arm also?
Thanks to both for your responses,
Dunc.

IIRC the Motorsport items aren't cheap, the last time I enquired for the 996 versions, they were £450 each plus vat ... they're spilt and use shims to increase/decrease camber.JustGREENI, there was a set on ebay for approx £400 - S/H but never fitted. What camber are you planning on running, as most don't have an issue when running up to 2.5 degrees, but if you're going for really big numbers, you can dial out some of the castor gain with an adjustable/solid coffin arm puck such as these from Tarett :

Slippy, I would be in the up tp 2.5deg category. I couldn't find any information on that when looking so appreciate your response.
TBH I'm trying to keep rubber in where I can, that's the only thing putting me off top mounts. That and reports of them not lasting long.
Thanks,
Dunc.
FWiW, I think you're right to avoid spherical bearing top mounts, and to be honest I think that for anything but regular track use, the majority of stuff out there is overkill. I'd use HD rubber bushes (check out Elephant Racing, Tarett and Rennline for them) wherever possible and I'd only use the likes of the Tarett or RSS components for rose/spherical jointed adjustable toe links.
I'd suggest you avoid the Elephant Racing stuff, my experience with the products themselves, and the aftersales service was less than exemplary...
The RSS stuff is good, as is the Tarett gear, but the best are Porsche Motorsport, but as I mentioned before, they come at a price.
Anyone like String Theory, Center Gravity or Spires should be able to advise/make recommendations as to just which components you'll need for your intended usage
