GEO set up recommendations in Scotland
Discussion
I would like my GT4 set up for fast road but I live Near Aberdeen
So does anyone have any recommendations for a good set up as close to Aberdeen as possible.
Centre of gravity seems to be the place to go but that is a huge trip there and back for Geo. Would they or could they supply Geo settings by email and I can get them set up near me ?
Any help recommendations would be great

Have a look here, Kintore probably the closest to Aberdeen. So does anyone have any recommendations for a good set up as close to Aberdeen as possible.

Definitely worth talking to COG, I could have given you my settings but I fitted the rear cup toe links so that probably wouldn't work, unless you have them of course ??
I've been to COG quite a few times now, always make a trip of it by doing a track day/car show etc when in the area. It's a great learning experience if you're interested in that, and even hands on if you want to get your overalls on and help with the work.
That's how it used to be anyway, maybe changed a bit now with all the HSE these days.

CG look corner weighting, ride height, rake as well as what I think most people call Geo. I don’t think they’d supply them purely because they think they are only one part of what is required to achieve the desired result. So does anyone have any recommendations for a good set up as close to Aberdeen as possible.

Had two cars done there this year and have been massively impressed.
It will depend what you're after. If you're not planning on adding any extra parts then I'd find a good local specialist and tell them how you want it set up after doing some research. There's plenty of info on here and Rennlist for suggested settings, but as a starting point you'll want to maximise the camber all round and set the toe front and rear. You should be able to get -1.5 degrees of camber on all four corners, even with a decent amount of toe-in on the rear. I'd leave the ride height and anti-roll bar settings as they are.
If you want to add parts to get something more aggressive than that, then personally I'd make a 2-3 day trip out of going somewhere who can both fit the parts and do a more involved geo. You may need to source the parts beforehand, it'll depend where you're going and whether they can supply them themselves.
Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies, some great advice.
I think I will try find some one local who can check and set the geo to suit what i want and if that does not achieve the results I want then defo going to make a trip to COG and maybe do a track day down there at the same time
Now I just need some decent settings for fast road that make get rid of some of the understeer but without adding too much over steer

If you're going with adding no parts, just maximise everything within Porsche recommended settings:-1.5 degrees camber all round (you may squeeze out a bit more up front, it'll depend on your car)
12 minutes per side of rear toe or as much as you can get with -1.5 degrees of camber (I think I managed to get 10 minutes per side as stock)
0 toe at the front
See how you get on with that and adjust from there!

A fellow Scot here, what was wrong with yours out of interest please? All sorted now and nice and predictable on road and track, I’m very tempted to get adjustable rear toe links though as I still feel there’s more could be done to make the rear more predictable

I’ve had mine near a year now and it’s been really predictable even in winter/damp, just a little sideways action easily corrected. You on cups? I swopped mine for PS4 pre collection.
Yes on cups, I’ll be tempted to swap to 4Ss once I’ve destroyed these though as our weather is so crap and I tracked my GTS on 4Ss and it wasn’t too far off the cup performance….. not sure though as I previously ran my old 911 on Cup1 then Cup2 all year round without worrying and zero driver aides….
The 4S are such a great tyre though and it rains constantly in the West of Scotland.
I might’ve been unlucky with my set up, but I’ve heard lots of horror stories about Porsches out the factory so glad I got it checked and done right!

Sandy linked to my thread above where I asked a simialr question when I wanted the geo done on my Cayman R. Since I last added to that thread, I have now done a good few miles in the car and it is much much better than it has ever been. What I asked for was basically factory geo but with max possible -ve front camber. The car drives night and day better than when Porsche did the geo on it.I think I will try find some one local who can check and set the geo to suit what i want and if that does not achieve the results I want then defo going to make a trip to COG and maybe do a track day down there at the same time

Not a best/top seller by any means, but hardly rare!

That’s surprising they said to you they hadn’t heard of an RS6, must be some other issue going on as they’ve set up other RS6s that go on the same Knockhill trackdays as me.
Strange one, but luckily the OP is looking for Porsche geo and they’ve definitely heard of a Porsche.
No other issues, they just couldn't do it. and worse still they tried to set up under RS4 settings claiming "it would be OK".. the whole set up felt very amateur to me.Strange one, but luckily the OP is looking for Porsche geo and they’ve definitely heard of a Porsche.
it was a few years back now.. 4 or 5 I think, so they've probably (hopefully?) got a bit better...
Still waiting on them phoning me back with an update mind you.. hope their customer service has improved too!
Ah, I dunno, I’ve only just started using them, I’d always previously used Kenny Brown in Hillington which has been fine but he still uses the old gauges etc and I guess time moves on with lasers now to ensure perfection.
I’d still recommend going there though if you’ve had a bad experience at Automek

fking hell, it’s like a bad trip down memory lane with you… I’d still recommend going there though if you’ve had a bad experience at Automek
Kenny Brown managed to put braided brake hoses on all wrong on my Pulsar GTiR…totally messed them up - how can you mess up brake lines?!! Ffs
Had to take the car down to the guys in Wigan to sort it all out.
That was almost 20 years ago!
Thankfully I’ve now stopped buying stupid cars!
Anyway, sorry for the thread derail, sure Automek will be fine for you OP…
