Hi, I have a 2014 981 Boxster, recently purchased, and it has intermittently flashing hazards when parked and locked. Any ideas please? Is this some sort of electronics module issue?

Thanks for any advice.

Tony.

Have you had it long?

Have you heard the alarm siren sounding?

Could the alarm be squealing and flashing the lights but the siren has been disconnected so it's just flashing?

Could be, I'm going to get it Porsche assessed for a potential warranty, so perhaps that'll make it clear. Thanks for the potential diagnosis.

Weirdly mine did that a few times while parked up and on the trickle charge in my garage.

I thought that the battery may have been on the way out as still original from 2012. Mentioned it when it went in for service and no fault found.

That was a couple of years ago and not happened since!

Not sure but I thought that if they flashed when you locked it meant something wasn’t closed properly?

It peeps the horn briefly when locking to indicate this on 987's, not sure about the 981.

Your alarm siren has a battery inside and it's starting to die. You need to buy another one or dismantle it and replace the battery inside. Search on YouTube 981 alarm siren I made on a video on this topic.

Thanks Test Drive, I’ve been watching your videos but not seen that one yet so appreciated. I did wonder if it was the glove box latch fouling on the slimy folder the paperwork came in, will keep an eye on it to see if it repeats.

Nice one! I think they chose a bad position to mount it, it definitely gets wet there.

Mine looked gleaming. Unless it was detailed with the rest of the car it was in amazing condition. Just flat battery.

The whole siren, or just its battery?

Why didn't he buy it from VW/Audi for a lot less given its their part? Mat Armstrong is all over part numbers like a tramp on a chip.

How do you know it's a lot less?

Unfortunately I had one on my Golf at the time and it wouldn't play ball.
