(Lack of availability) of Boxster GTS 4.0
Discussion
Having decided to take the plunge on a Boxster GTS 4.0 I have just called to place my order with my local dealer. He previously advised that delivery would be Q1 or Q2 2022 which was fine by me.
He now tells me that Porsche have sent an update to all dealers saying that they should not expect any further GTS 4.0s until 2023 (with similar guidance for 911s). Orders placed prior to this notification may be honoured.
Has anyone else heard this? Any suggestions as to how to overcome this delay? Are some dealers more likely to have an allocation than others?
It's a first world problem and keeping my 981 GTS longer than expected is no hardship, but 2023 does seem a long way off!

My local OPC has been quite honest with me that in the next quarter they are only getting one Boxster and one Cayman, both allocated. They don’t know what they’ll get for the following quarter.
I would not be at all shocked if OPC’s with considerable backlogs are now advising new customers/orders as being likely 2023. The truth is the OPC’s don’t get given long term forecasts of what they’ll be getting.

My OPC has confirmed delays across a lot of models. They dont think it will mean a deposit placed now will result in a 2023 delivery. I really hope not.
Sorry - please could you clarify your second sentence: are you saying they are suggesting that deposits placed now will result in delivery later than 2023?I enquired with my local OPC last week about a Cayman GTS 4.0 and a 992 GTS and was told availability on 992 was slightly better and could expect a car in Q1/2 of 2022, the Cayman was in shorter supply and there was a list of several people to be fulfilled. I was still told Q1/2 2022 for a Cayman. A deposit was required for a place in the queue for an allocation. The allocations for the remainder of 2021 were only 1 or 2 cars per month and all spoken for.
