I have only done one track day at Combe in this car. Performance and handing was brilliant but I couldn't help but think of oill starvation problems. Oil has been changed to Mobil 1 10-50.

I use Triple 8's and want to pre-empt killing the engine, possibly!

What is the consensus of opinion whether I need a baffled sump and if so what is the best out there?

Cheers.

I plan to go down the "Porsche Motorsport" sump route. I believe that they are currently less than £200.

That’s good to know. Any link?

The day I spent at Coombe, I was sensible, kept an eye on the dash for what it was worth with sticky tyres and didn’t have any problems. There aren’t any really long bends there so it was probably quite safe.

There is no Porsche motorsport sump for the M96 / M97

There is however the X51 baffled sump, which is available from Porsche, the sump is the same as you have but the baffle is improved to keep the oil near the pick up.

I would recommend the FVD sump, it contains the Porsche X51 baffle but is slightly deeper and holds an additional 0.6 Litres of oil, it’s available out of Germany.

Sorry yes X51 was what I actually meant. The baffle design is similar to the fvd but the cost is a fair bit lower

I'll try to find a part number. I am not sure if you can order them via an OPC (I assume you probably can) but if you know somebody with motorsport links, they can usually get hold of them.

Okay that’ll be great. I don’t know anyone with any motorsport links.
