It appears my front end suspension refesh has unearthed a leaking steering rack (one of the boots had alot of fluid). Must be recent, as I last checked fluid level at start of the month.

Anyone used these guys WPS in Bristol - seem to get a good rap

It's either that or get hammered for a new one...

Hi Andy, I have had about 8 steering racks from them, all very good and quick service.

The rack comes in a pre-shaped foam box for protection.

Did you undo the boot and have a look?
It wasn't very visible until they did.

I'm glad it happened now as they have the suspension apart TBH. They have dropped the sub frame too so will probably refresh the cooling pipes (even though mechanics said they are not too bad). A section was done in 2017 but I might just do the whole lot as the labour costs will be relatively cheap.

This is why I handed the job to an indie as these things ALWAYS seem to escalate. You need a proper lift for this stuff (at my age anyway!)

I like the way this crew give the option to refesh your exisiting rack. Some only send you a random one and take yours in exchange. I know mines had a pretty easy life.

Thats what id want, my own rack back. Haven't had the boots off yet, will do though.
Ive done all my coolant hoses (on the floor at home) lol. Wasn't fun but worthwhile.

It won't be a new one, it will be a remanufactured one from the O.E. supplier even if it's from an OPC.

Common issue on the 987 I was told by a local Porsche specialist especially if the car does'nt get much use,I paid around 1500 quid from memory for a recon rack with warranty including fitting, been good as gold ever since.
