981 Boxster sport plus
Discussion
Sport and sport plus just adjust the throttle sensitivity and possibly the engine maps.
If the car is PDK it will adjust the gearbox shift settings.
If the car is PASM it will firm up the dampers.
Ships from the factory with the adjustable engine mounts but if these fail they are around £1000 to replace so some people use a standard mount as replacement. Therefore the car will obviously work without the dynamic engine mount.

Have you got any actual definite evidence for this (genuine question), as I’ve heard it suggested a couple of times but never actually seen anyone that has definitely done it.When I had my second drivechain mount replaced I asked the OPC tech if a none active mount could be fitted. You would have thought I’d asked to sleep with his daughter!

Yes it can, but it would need coding out via the ECU via someone who knows how to re-map 981s....Green1man said:

Chono can be retro fitted, but you don't get the clock (which on 981's is the nicest fitment, and looks bare without imo).
Are you sure you can on a 981? I know it was possible on a 987.2 but I've not heard it being done on a 981. Happy to be corrected though!Pope said:
No Tequipment option for SPORT mode on 981; in either base or S models. As others mention, it is a far more extensive option compared to earlier cars - with different hardware and VIN specific wiring that just aren't practical to retrofit. Only options over standard (DME/engine related) are: Sports Exhaust (XLF) and Cruise Control (454).
As I thought - many thanks for the confirmation Pope said:
A big part of the SPORT/SPORT PLUS mode option is the calibration of the PSM as it gradually allows greater slip angles before intervention.
TrueI forgot about this. Again though as it's all software related so I'm sure some form of plug in device or chip tuning could program this in on a car without the factory option.
Had Sport Chrono on my 2.7 981 Boxster, not worth worrying about and very rarely used it. My car was a PDK car with PASM and PSE
As said previously Sport Chrono quickened the gear change dramatically (uncomfortably so with the engine mounts?), changed the throttle map, switched the PSE on, and stiffened the suspension to the hardest setting. Oh and the clock is pretty pointless too.....
I thought Sport Plus was far too severe to use on the road and out of character with the 2.7 engine and car in general. Never bothered with launch control on any car, it's just a gimmick. Always used the car in Sport which was a great compromise. Engine mount failure was also a worry for me especially as I was planning to run the car without the restrictions that a Porsche warranty placed on the car.
Long gone and not missed.
