Handy tip - oil top-up for the new GTS/GT4/Spyder 4.0
Discussion
While out and about last Sunday my 718 GT4 indicated in the multi-function display that the oil level was at the minimum but that driving was still possible/allowed. I was heading back from a local shopping trip so I took it easy and once home I dug out the 1ltr of oil I'd previously bought. I think it's the first time I'd topped up oil in one of my cars for years! My 981 GTS didn't need any in 4 years of ownership.
Anyhow, I know how sensitive Porsches are to oil overfilling and I'd read a few stories about issues after top-up so I decided to only add 0.5ltr of oil. The handbook states that the difference between the minimum level when the warning is displayed and full is approximately 1ltr, but I didn't want to take a risk.
I've done only a small number of miles since, including a lunchtime run today, and I've just checked the oil and it's 2/3rds full on the display. So 1ltr would have overfilled it!
Top tip - if the yellow warning comes up for low oil on your Cayster 4.0 only add 500ml...
