Car play stereo and Boxster 987
Discussion
Hello Boxster buffs. I would like to have a Sony XAV-AX3005DB DAB Car Stereo with Apple Car Play, Android Auto and Bluetooth installed in a 987 Boxster S. Halfords say extra parts are needed apart from the Sony unit and can't get them. I'm in the Croydon area. Could any kind person recommend a reasonably local car stereo fitting business that could source the Sony unit and fit it please?
Buy the unit anywhere you like, and the fitting parts can be sourced here: https://incartec.co.uk/Porsche
Then its a simple case of finding an engineer you trust to do the job. HTH.

I've coincidentally put that exact head unit into my 987 Cayman (the predecessor Sony unit, I forget the model) and my 981 Cayman.
You will need a 'fascia kit' - this is the bit of plastic that fits around the square stereo head unit, and matches with the shape of the 'hole' in the car from the old stereo coming out.
I've used several Connect2 kits in various cars and they are excellent. The fit is always good and they make the materials match the car dash quite well.

They also make the wiring adapter connectors which work well. (Porsche are a pain in the neck as they don't supply switched 12V to the head unit - power is controlled through a CANBUS signal, so the adapter is quite expensive. I bodged it by taking switched 12V from a fuse in the fuse box instead and saved myself the cost of the adapter)
I've installed them myself, but if you'd prefer to pay somebody to do it then check out https://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/ in Wandsworth. A bit of a drive for you, but I've found them very professional and helpful. I've bought about 4 cars worth of stereo bits through them and they've always been happy to give pointers or let me know various parts and adapters I need. I've asked about installation and their costs seemed pretty reasonable.
ETA: crappy old mobile pic - but this is the Sony unit in the 987 using the Connects2 facia.
