718 Spyder Allocation

Assume there is absolutely no chance of one now?
Been out of Porsche for the last couple of years and it's the only current model I like!
If anyone knows of an allocation or slot available, please let me know!
I’d say it’s unlikely but you never know - certainly worth contacting dealers. Been out of Porsche for the last couple of years and it's the only current model I like!

I’ve bought a lot of cars from one OPC and they told me no chance.
Another OPC rang me asking if I still had a car I’d bought from them 4-5 years ago (I didn’t) and I managed to get a 718 allocation out of the call so it can happen as can cancellations.
You’ve got nothing to lose but some time while you chase it.
Good luck.

If you don’t ask you won’t get. I asked an OPC that I’d used before if there was any chance of a GT4, I got a very quick answer “no, but you can have a 718 spyder”
Wow was he being ironic?21 reg cars now trading at 110K so doubt any dealers has an unallocated car possible cancelled order but even those there is a long waiting list

No, deadly serious. But it was 9 months ago when market was not quite so buoyant.
The car was pre spec’d and about to arrive in UK, a couple of weeks later it was listed as a demo on the OPC website - but not for long. Anyway, it was not for me but like I said, if you don’t ask……
And there's the crux - it was a cancelled order. The car was pre spec’d and about to arrive in UK, a couple of weeks later it was listed as a demo on the OPC website - but not for long. Anyway, it was not for me but like I said, if you don’t ask……
Getting an allocation for a Spyder or GT4 where the spec is configurable to your preferences is a whole different kettle of fish.

Agreed. Two separate OPCs laughed at my request for a GT4 slot last month. But I was offered a pre-spec’d cancelled order. Collect it next month. Getting an allocation for a Spyder or GT4 where the spec is configurable to your preferences is a whole different kettle of fish.

That’s a result! Deposit paid last Oct and I’ve still had nothing confirmed so I’ll be lucky if I see it this side of the clocks changing. I’d gladly take a cancelled order on a reasonably spec’d car in gentian/GT silver or crayon. Twinfan said:

Have I been told porkies then. I was told that cancelled orders are still reallocated by Central office at Reading who deal with all UK allocation regardless of where the original order came from
Porkies.Dealers control their allocations 100%.

I still had to be ‘vetted’ by the DP before they would agree to sell me the cancelled order. GRD_72 said:

You're being told complete bobbins I'm afraid, unless you're dealing with a Porsche owned OPC (e.g. Silverstone) and that's how they do it?
My OPC is a franchise and my previous 981 GTS was a dealer order for stock, which prior to that was a customer's order until they switched it for a GT4 allocation. I took over the GTS build and reconfigured it to my spec. So the actual build order changed hands twice, all under the exclusive control of the dealership.
GT cars are much more in demand so the dealer stock aspect isn't relevant, but the rest is. Franchises exclusively control who gets their allocated cars, Porsche GB give them a number of cars to sell and that's all they do.
Ferraris are allocated centrally but not Porsches.

So if Porsche GB give them the cars to sell surely its Porsche GB allocating the cars ie the cars are not allocated to the dealership from Germany. Porsche GB negotiate with Porsche AG for a number of cars per quarter. Porsche AG supply those build slots for cars to Porsche GB, who in turn distribute them to the dealerships based on demand, previous sales figures etc etc. Once that is done, Porsche GB's job is complete unless there's an issue that has to be resolved e.g. delays, incorrect build when the car arrives etc.Once assigned to them, each Porsche dealership manages their build slots and Porsche AG do not care who the customer is or if it's a car built for dealership stock. They just build a car to fulfill an order.
It's as simple as that.
