as much as I would like the OPC system it's very expensive

I would like a switchable exhaust as the car is a daily driver

I have so far head of Designer and Top Gear Exhaust plus I believe design911 sell one

just wanting you thoughts please

Hi I ran my 981 2.7 for a couple of years and faced a similar decision.
I went with the Carnewall GT exhaust - check the website Gert is brilliant to deal with.
The process can be done remotely or with a weekend away in Bruges in person.
I went over there. Process takes a few hours
The transformation was amazing. It sounded much better than my mates 2.7 with the PSE. No contest. It wasn't overdone wasn't obtrusive. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Yes it is - subtle on soft revs. It's not meant to be switchable but I found that the sport button definitely turned it on more. On the flip side when you're on it and wringing the engine out it sounded lovely.

Have a look you YouTube, there are plenty of examples. The change is very noticeable . I was going to go down this route a few years ago on a 2.7 I was thinking about purchasing.

I shopped around OPCs for PSE retrofit and got it for £1800 from OPC Tonbridge and it’s fantastic. I like that it is valved and I can shut it up when I want to fly under the radar.

I’m fond of keeping OEM but found Carnewal not all it was hyped to be and some of the other aftermarket systems either a little too much or obviously aftermarket.

can you expand on that please

I have found a company in Leeds, Revolution, looks like they do a similar mod to the Carnewall for £540 complete inc fitting etc. anyone hear of these guys or any experience with them

Not for that, but I’ve had a PPI done with them and a couple of minor dealings and I’ve found them very knowledgeable and helpful.

They have a very good rep.

I drove to Belgium to see Gurt to have this done on my old 981 2.7 manual, this is exactly what I found, the sport button acted as a pse button, no sport on, very similar to standard exhaust, button pressed, all the pops and bangs as per pse. For the money hard to beat, and a nice drive to Belgium and back, thoroughly reccomend!!

I didn’t realise Carnewal did a switchable system..

I tested a car with the fixed system - basically sport mode on permanently. It was great, it sounded just like mine with PSE on. Great price, too.

981s with PSE on (and ideally SC in sport+) is one of the best sounds this side of exotic money.

Its not sold as a switchable system however works with the throttle map of the sport button so in effect acts like a switchable system, certainly did on my manual

Is it valved like PSE?
If not then it sounds like the one I tried - just effectively PSE on permanently (no bad thing).

PSE on in normal, Sport & Sport+ produces markedly different exhaust behaviour on my manual. PSE on in normal is barely distinguishable from PSE off, but through sport and sport+ the difference becomes more and more pronounced.

the Carnewell is not switchable

I think I have decided to stop for the Revolution-Porsche mod

Just based on what Carnewal does with only the exhaust (and not touching the rest of the car) achieving PSE-on characteristics, I’m going to say ‘no’ to both questions.

Why would you do it, out of interest?

Fair call!

I suppose that I’d there is any hesitation about how it integrates with the rest of the car, then perhaps the Revolution mod or Carnewal perhaps would be the safer bet - we know the Carnewal works a treat and provides the PSE pops & bangs...

I’ve no idea on cost, but I’ve heard a 981 with a fabspeed system from the cat back, and it is sensational.

So, in the interest of completeness; we know about Carnewal, one poster is getting the Revolution mod, and therefore you should get the Fabspeed system - and report back.

For any more helpful suggestions, just yell!

The other aftermarket to look at is Soul Performance. Similar to Fabspeed by all accounts, but I’ve never come across one in person.

'stop for'?

Interested in reports from anyone who has had this mod, especially vs Carnewal GT.
