Some guys in the US have reported gear cruching when going from 1st to 2nd.
Some have said that this is part of "running in" and goes after a few miles.

I get this sometimes but am still running in. I find myself being extra cautious when moving to 2nd from 1st.

Anyone experienced this?

Yeah, happened to me a few times, maybe a result of me changing gear too quickly, not sure.

Something to keep an eye on. I've reached out to my local centre to see if anything has been reported etc.

Think it is something related to running in.
981 GT4 also had this in lots of cases and then when cars got replacement gearboxes, we had it again with breaking in the new box.

Make a note of it, but it should disappear with more miles. Get out and drive.

My car has 3400m on it now, can't say I've ever noticed it...

It’s just that typical syncromesh crunch. Maybe 1 in 15 gear changes I’ll end up doing it. Then just remind myself to be a little more gentle with the gearbox. Only seems to happen 1st to 2nd.

Maybe keep that warranty for a while yet eh? wink

Double clutch it, you will then know if it’s synchro issue or ruff gear issue. Pretty easy to do and diagnose.

How many miles have you each got on the clock?

Mine's on c.4k miles, can't say I've noticed any crunching. It's done a few track days as well

I’ve had it three times I think in my GTS4.0. I’d put it down in each case to changing gear too quickly, or wondered if I had not quite depressed the clutch enough.
It’s interesting that others are getting this. I’ve done 4500 miles now.

Experienced the same on a test drive and put it down to mistiming clutch/gear change. I did think it was odd as I have never got it wrong in any other car and been driving manuals for 30 years.

How are people getting on with this now their cars have a few more miles on them?

I intermittently get a crunch when changing 1st / 2nd quickly at high revs. No issues on any of the other gears. Clutch is pressed all the way to the floor so that’s ruled out. Only happens with you make a quick change higher in the rev range, a slight delay/pause and it won’t do it however I’d like to know if there’s something that potentially will get worse over time.

Cars been into the OPC however they reported all normal.

if a gear is catching at revs on a quick change and you have plenty of clutch clearance/ travel then its the Synchro wearing on the gear, it won't go away and will get worse with use, the fix is a gearbox removal/ strip and replace the ring.
