981 GTS modifications

Just wondering if anyone has done any mods on their 981 GTS?

I’ve got one and there are a few things missing from the 911 GTS (991.2) I had previously that I miss - eg reversing camera, Apple Car Play, Lane ChangeAssist, Speed Limit Indicator - that I wish I had. Possibly other things I could add.

Has anyone had these or anything else retrofitted, and if so, what was the cost?

I had a tuned 3.8L installed in mine, replaced most of the suspension and brakes but it was just an S with PDK - left the inside alone.

You will have the speed limit indicator already, just go into setup. It will show in the 3rd instrument dial (on the bottom row).

Apple Carplay and a reversing camera can be added to PCM 3.1 but you will need kits. Here's a guide :

Lane assist though is a project too far.

981 S I have race headers and Stage 2 tune.

I've had cruise control retrofitted and also had PCM 3.1 software and maps updated to 2019 versions.

Not got round to reversing camera or Android Auto yet.

I found somewhere that retrofits apple car play - but for the life of me can't find the link now.

I seem to remember it was a bit pricey but a very good professional job.

Be interesting to see what my car made on them rollers! I had planned on popping in on my 2020 road trip but then Covid.

I did speak to them quite a lot last year when I was getting mine ready to bolt the headers on.

how much does a mod like that cost? that's close to GT4 power/torque...

Not a great deal.

I paid about £700 for race headers and £600 ish for software.

The tuning company above did tell me I wouldn't gain much at all my doing the GT3 throttle body and plenum, car sounds immense with race headers + PSE.

£1300 for 385PS/415NM and even more epic sound?

or is that just the 'sound' upgrade?

I got that quite a bit cheaper, I went for the "cheap" headers from Top Gear, you can easily spend £1300-2000 on headers alone, the COBB tuning system I got is usually about £1300 as well, I got it 2nd hand for £600 from a boxster owner.

If I keep the car much longer (at the moment might keep it another few months) I will upgrade the rear X pipe as well to give a little more sound.

good to know there's an upgrade path if needed.

to do it right and get 380bhp is about £8k though.

there maybe cheaper options but you have to pay for quality, Manifolds with 200cel cats are £3.5k and that's the main spend.

which is illegal and is not MOT compliant in the UK and imo too loud anyway.
Then maybe not even legally insured.

A 981 PDK GTS flat 6 with 380 BHP will be a very fast car :-)

My 911 had similar bhp and I couldn’t use it fully on public roads, so not interested in that sort of power in a lighter car.
