718 - Exhaust Tip Corrosion

get yourself to Infinity Exhausts near Bristol - they will sort you out with some stainless tips - cheap as chip as well.
They did my Spyder with 10mm stainless twin wall tips in under an hour for about £150 all in
Surely the standard exhaust is stainless? It doesn't look like it from those photos, but could be poor quality SS.They did my Spyder with 10mm stainless twin wall tips in under an hour for about £150 all in
My 981 twin exhaust has never rusted but it's a devil to get the black deposits off it so I've given up polishing it and it's now matt black, which is actually OK. This won't help the OP as rusty matt black would still look naff.
Maybe send the photos to Porsche GB (if they're there) and see what they say. If it IS stainless steel (I'm fairly sure it is) then there should be no argument about them replacing under warranty although they'll probably try "...doesn't cover cosmetic issues."

I wash the car about once a month (windscreen more often). It’s a daily and used throughout the winter.Tips on my 996 never corroded that fast and the five year old SS Hayward & Scott system on my Forester is hardly ever cleaned, yet remains rust free.
I guess the 718 has poor quality stainless steel.
If that’s 5months from new then I’d definitely be complaining about that.
My 4 1/5 year old 981 has no rust, but as said above is near impossible to keep clean if used regularly so I have also left to go Matt black (this takes a few months of regular use) adit looks a nice even rust free charcoal.

My ex bought a year old, 700 mile 911 from an OPC. Within 6 months the exhaust tips were corroding. The car was washed regularly and kept immaculate by me. When i complained the OPC told me I was washing it with water which was not the correct pH level. The car had been cleaned with pH neutral car shampoo and tap water. I did ask what the correct pH level was for cleaning the exhaust tips and was met with silence. Presumably Porsche are now using the same water soluble grade metal on exhaust tips that they like to use on underbody fixings. I love the cars, but I wish they'd spend a few quid more on fixings with some degree of corrosion resistance.
