A friend of mine is looking for a low mileage 981 Cayman GTS, but is quite specific about spec.

Must have PDK and the usual conveniences (climate, cruise, heated seats, pdls, bose, etc) but would also like PTV and PCCBs.

Are there many around with this level of options?

thanks

Nope. PTV is relatively rare, PCCBs very rare. Both together, plus BOSE, could be a loooooong wait for a car to come up for sale.

Forget Bose - someone must like, but they are very thin on the ground (I have it). Opinion is more divided on PCCB - reflected in residuals (PCCBs don't command a premium despite the original cost) - form your own opinion. Might make finding the spec you decide upon easier.

He's had 911s (996, 997,991s) and drove a 981S, which really impressed him, but less convinced by the 718S, so I suggested a GTS.

To make the move across he said he'd want "all the toys" and he's a pccb convert, so I assumed they would be on his wish list.

Good luck finding one
I spent 10 months looking for a Boxster Gts,

I was only interested in OPC cars and was fairly specific on what I wanted but that included several colour options (gt silver or agate grey)
I also wanted the full alcantara interior and preferred the Turbo design alloys over other options but would haave accepted either the sport techno or carrera s wheels
after that, as long it was fairly well specced, i.e. sat nav, climate heated seats etc I didn't mind.

I eventually gave up ,
very few cars showed up on the approved website and those that did did'nt even come close to what I was looking for,
In the end I upped the budget and got a 991 c2s.

I'm sure there will be quite a few hi-spec Cayman GTSs out there.

I've seen Boxsters and Caymans with PCCBs, although these will be quite rare, but would be nice.

I think there were a few Porsche 'Management' cars (not PEC demonstrators) that were specd to the hilt.

Good luck

It's the PTV and the PCCBs that are the problem. PTV alone might be easier than PCCBs alone.

Forgo those and it sounds like your mate would like mine. It ain't for sale, though. driving

Definitely. I've seen more OPC cars for sale with PTV than with PCCBs.

CGTS with PCCB and PDK must be really rare I'd imagine. I understood there were only about 15 manual cars with PCCB ever ordered in the UK and likely to be fewer with PDK (I think I have only seen one with PDK and PCCB when I was tracking the market).

I had one in manual with PCCB, PTV and sport suspension and it was a heady mix so good luck with the search!

15/135 manual cars is 10% with PCCB - I'd say that was very high. I wouldn't be surprised if there were only 15/545 GTSs with PCCBs - they're certainly rare.

There's one car for sale now with PDK and PCCBs, but not PTV.

I wouldn't know if 15 is a high number or not to be honest.

I knew of 7 with manual and PCCB from what has been on sale. I think AndyCGTS had a PDK with PCCB. The other one is one you've just mentioned. That's 9 so far!

My old CGTS came with PCCB's, PDK, PTV, Bose, cruise, GTS interior, buckets, Climate, PDLS and Nav. Probably other stuff too that I've forgotten.

Yellow.

Sold it to RPM who had it for a while before selling it in Late Dec.

Cracking car it was.

(Sorry, not much help to the OP, other than there's one out there somewhere!)

Have that lot and more on my Boxster GTS problem for you it’s a Boxster and not a Cayman and i’ve currently no plans to sell......good to know (for me) that it’s quite rare and explains why whenever I go to my OPC without fail they always ask me if I would like to sell!

I think the variety of options available to new buyers, means that your only chance of ever getting a car that's your exact spec will be to have been there and bought when new. Buying used is always going to involve some level of compromise.

What if you found the perfect spec, but the colour was dayglo pink?

My CGTS had PTV, Bose, GTS packs...but no climate, which was all I really wished it had. Not the end of the world. I had Manual as well, which was fricking fantastic (but for 7th being too short on a motorway)...I think what I am really saying, is that no matter what the spec, the CGTS is a great car.

Re. Bose - I'm sure it was worth someone's money, but the sound from that engine is so dominant to the everyday driving experience, it's a bit of a waste. You just can't hear the thing properly. If you wanted a decent audio experience, you really should be driving a Range Rover, not a CGTS. biggrinwink
