Having read this http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2014-porsche-c... article, is actual engine oil consumption so high that it needs additional fillings in-between regular service events?

Please post even if your car does not require additional engine oil. State engine (2.7, 3.4, 3.4 GTS, or 3.8 GT4). Many thanks!

My 981 Cayman GTS needed 1 litre top up recently. It has covered only 4000 miles

The Porsche Centre (Cardiff) told me they expect the engine to use oil, up to 1 litre per 1000 miles

My 981 S is similar - but on a previous similar thread it was said that oil consumption reduces as the engine beds in.

Same here, it needed a 1 litre top-up at 5000miles and other 1/2 litre at 12000ish.

2.7 nearly 3 years old and 16000 miles; so far no top-ups between services.

Thanks G

Boxster 2.7 PDK 6000 miles from new. (Sept 13)
Within the first 500 miles it went down one segment from full but has not moved since. No oil added
Performance used as intended!!

981 gts covered 5,000 miles no top up required yet, the oil meter has lost maybe one or two bars, it fluctuates every now and again between starts. I'm guessing before 7,000 miles it will need a litre. Driven hard, always obey run in period and use on high revs when at running temp water and oil.

An old thread, but rather than make a new one...

My 981 never used oil between services, but now that the odometer is into six figures, it's using about one litre every 16,000-18,000 miles.

I think it's the track days that speed things up.

Interested to know if anyone else's higher mileage car is similar.

981S. ‘62 reg. 62k miles. Owned for 4 years and 20k miles and never needed top up at all between 3 services. Magnificent motor car, aiming to keep it until I’m taken off the road,

Mine has never asked or displayed drop in oil between services, that's over a period of 7 years.

That's an extrapolated oil burn right ? biglaugh track days and oil changes every 16-18k sounds like disaster to me !

Think I did three track days within the one service period biggrin

If it were any other car I’d change it more frequently, but it’s under warranty so yolo.
