A friend of mine has a 1999 Boxter, which has been lying in the garage for well over 2 years, resulting in a flat battery.

Now, when it was needed the bonnet will not open. The lever next to the door will not operate. I was asked to help, (why, I don't really know)

I looked online and saw a video clip of a spare battery adding power via a small red connector on the inside fuse board (near the pedals) Alas, no red connector, so all we can assume is the release mechanism is mechanical, rather than electrical.

However somebody suggested using a battery booster pack and the cigarette lighter socket. Is this possible and if so, how is it done please ?

If that option isn't possible, what else can I try please ?

thank you !

Its in the area between the headlamp and bonnet drivers side (UK). Need a slim tool to hook it.

Applying a battery to the panel on the driver's side is only for models that have electrical release only (2003 ish onwards).

A 1999 model should have a lever on the driver's side sill by the door. If this isn't releasing the bonnet, then it is jammed shut.
