Hi All,

My CR is due for new tyres in the next few months and I always get caught out with some semi slicks at the end of the summer hooning season!

What recommendations and experiences have people had for the CR? I've got eagle F1s at the moment (I think they were OE).

It's also my first Porsche (Hello Porsche forum! wavey) having come from a BMW M car, what's the crack with this Porsche N rating? What would happen to the warranty if for example I went for some Michelin pilot super sports?

Cheers for any info!

LN7

PS. If anyone has any random interesting info/links on the CR I'd be interested to see them.
PPS. Has anyone got an original price list? I'd be interested to 'spec up' my car.

If you are tied to a Porsche warranty then you will need to fit N rated tyres and Michelin Pilot Sport 2's are your best option, unless you can come to an agreement with our OPC. If not, then Michelin Pilot Super Sports are the way to go.

Hi I have experienced the eagles, ps2 and Pirelli for my cayman r. I would rank them in that order personally. Welcome to porsche by the way...

Thanks very much, looks like I may as well stick with the Eagle F1s.

What is it about the N rating that makes them different to non N rated types?

you do need to try pilot super sports on it, they are amazing.

In simple terms, and avoiding the controversies that you can very easily look up (allow a week to go through...) N rated tyres are approved by Porsche but this does not mean that non-N rated are necessarily not good enough, only that they have not been approved. Because obviously Porsche is not going to test every tyre on the market, and assuming that being N rated also comes at a cost to the manufacturer due to the accruing benefits, some may decide that it's not worth the bother and will let customers make up their own mind. For you and me non-N rating means a suck it and see situation. Or let someone else do the sucking and then let them tell you what they saw, which in some cases does appear to be very nice.

Personally N and non N PS2 cost practically the same and the PS2 is recommended by many so it was a no-brainer, also considering that non-N Falkens, which I was then comparing, IIRC only cost £200 less all round. But each to his own.
