AFAIK, the factory fill is still Mobil 1 0w-40 and this is the recommended oil, though the latest Porsche Approved Oils list gives maybe 50 different oils, if for some reason you want to run something else.

Generally you can find Mobil 1 just about anywhere.

Fair enough , it just with some cars as the get older some say you should move up to something a little thicker.

I had a chat with Paragon Porsche today about this and they said they service my 43k mile 3.4 987s with mobil 3000 5w40. Mobil on the other hand suggest Mobil 0w40 new life, but I guess that's better suited to a nearly new engine.

I reckon that's just PH myth number 47.

I've never heard the slightest justification for treating any modern (last 30 years) engine in that way. If the engine needs a particular oil when it's new then that's the oil it needs when it's got some miles on it.

Interesting I've picked the car up now and it appears that it had 0w40 up to the last services , then jzm changed to 5w40 edge. I assume they know what they are doing!!

You might be confusing women talking about men or men talking about women.
