It took a lot of deliberation and soul searching, but I finally decided to part with my much loved C63. I have enjoyed my time with it, but in all honesty I miss a manual and after test driving a Cayman S and a Boxster S, PDK and manual respectively,

I decided on a Cayman with a manual box. I don't pick it up until 3rd of June as I am on holiday until then.

I've no proper pics, just screen caps from the OPC.

Of course, when I pick it up I will have the obligatory tin of custard in the picture.

Thanks Nic, I got a good discount too. Did not pay anything like the listed price.

Just needs a PSE and we're done.

The 981 Cayman is a superb car, Chris Harris on here reckons it to be a benchmark car the older 987 never looked right but the redesign of the 981 is just right, checking out the spec it looks to have all of the good bits I'm a fan of PASM.

I agree Birma. I could never come to terms with the look of the 987, it looked wrong in my eyes.

Many will of course disagree, also as this will be predominantly a road car with very occasional track days, the PASM was also a must for me. It is a more comfortable ride than my C63 with the added bonus of sublime handling.

Hopefully catch up with you at one of the pub clubs and have a chat as I like to do the odd track day.

I have a 12 plate C63 Coupe - and also a 987 2.7 Boxster. Obviously between those there is a large speed/power difference - not so large between the 981 Cayman S you are getting but I wonder if you will miss the power ?

I assume you must have had 19 inch wheels as with 18s I find the car much more comfortable ? As to handling, there is no contest ! Handling on the C63 is more like wrestling a bear !

Still, Cayman looks great - enjoy.

It does seem like your going from one extreme to the other with these two cars.
A big thug of a car to a precision instrument of a car. Ive never owned either but fancy both for differant reasons. Wouldn't it be nice to own both?

Lol, a thug describes the C 63 well. And yes it would be nice, if I had the budget I would.

I will certainly miss the overtaking prowess of it, that's for sure. A true dragster, the sound is awesome, but the 3.4 flat six sounds great too and you can hear it more than the V8.

The power difference is somewhat offset on the road, due to the vastly superior handling and far lighter weight and after the drive in the Cayman S I loved the way it turned in and held a line without trying to murder me (secretly miss that too).

On a road that is not all straights, the Cayman will easily hold its own.

But I think the C63 will be the first car that I still love when it goes. I may even have tears, particularly as I am borrowing my mum's might Fiat Panda. Oh the humanity!

Next pub club for me is likely June.

It is nice owning both I can confirm !! Wish I had the 'S' though !

I do kinda love the fact the C63 wants to kill you...and the noise is more obvious with seats down and window open !

After 2 years of owning the C63 I also would find it difficult to part.

Lovely looking car - enjoy! Judging by the price, their values seem to be holding up well.

I raced a c63 in my981 Cayman S with fabspeed exhaust (10 extra bhp) from lights entering the motorway and was stuck right behind him all the way to 150( in Germany)There was no difference In performance. Merc driver was very surprised and not happy

dynamically no contest. c63 sounds better but feels like the boat it is.

cayman has much less torque and long gearing. totally different car.

i don't even know how to start comparing......... each has it's own niche/purpose.

I think the Cayman S sounds great, more of a proper sports car sound to the C63's dragster
