Boxster Insurance

Mine just cost me £177 with Direct Line.
Age 43, 5000 miles a year, fully comp, full NCD, very low excess, inc vandalism cover.
Costs me more to insure that than the Citroen C2 work hack.
That is cheap. I'm with Direct line for one car but they wanted over £300 for my 986 Boxster S. 9 yrs NCB, aged 50. BUT, no garage, which put the premium up a fair bit I expect even though it's not a 'risky' area.Age 43, 5000 miles a year, fully comp, full NCD, very low excess, inc vandalism cover.

Don't bank on that. I moved from a place with a garage to one without one (until it's built) & premiums went down. Granted better it's a better area but when I spoke to them they reckon the risk is lower parked on a drive as the fire risk goes down!Dave_ST220 said:

My house insurance went down when I offered to park the GT3 on the drive for the same reason!Don't underestimate your bank. I am with Halifax and their insurance, when priced direct, was 20% cheaper than everyone else. This was not the case when using compare sites.
Simple truth is that these firms are balancing risk and they change their pricing structure all the time depending up the risk profile of their aggregate policies. Too many pensioners, lower premiums for the under 35's. To many women, lower for men etc. Ideally they want a risk profile that is as diverse as possible unless as a firm they are specialists (which the big boys are not).
In this instance there is no short cut to devoting a few hours to research.
Good luck
I did a lot of research and checking and found this insurance postcode risk list online:

It's 6 months old now but probably a fair reflection. Bradford for instance has the lowest risk possible areas, A (BD23 and BD24) to the highest, F and even 'refer.' York is all A or B, Manchester is E,F or refer.
My area is B. Nevertheless, Direct line required a lower premium on my TVR Chimaera than the Boxster S despite it having a non-cat1 immobiliser, no ABS, no airbags, etc. Go figure! (Both cars cost the same within £200.)
I ended up insuring the Boxster with Locktons on a collectors, low mileage policy not requiring NCB.

I moved the same car mid way through a policy from PR9 (D) to SK10 (B). All else the same and yet my premium went up for the remaining term.
List may be stale. Companies may be leaches. Perhaps both.
Everything bar post code the same? They do seem to take the piss if changing mid term. List may be stale. Companies may be leaches. Perhaps both.

The real problem I think I'm having is that I don't have any NCB as it's an additional car to the family.
Try Swiftcover, they will allow you to mirror your existing NCD onto the Boxster.Any companies covering track day/ring cover also??

BD23 is the middle of the Yorkshire Dales FYI. That's why its cheap Manchester & Bradford or completely black listed by a lot of insurers. Moving from Manchester to Glasgow (both outskirts of city center) my insurance halved!http://www.carinsuranceexplained.com/car-insurance...
