I press the key remote and you can just about hear the whirr but the lid won't pop. Same for the sill button. I have stuff needed for work in there. Help!

AA won't come out because it isn't an emergency. Called Porsche Solihull and they told me to take off the rear wheel passenger side and remove the wheel arch liner to reveal an emergency pull cord. Has anybody a picture of this? I'm home now and waiting for it to cool down a bit before getting a jack under it and the wheel off.

I forgot to say, it's a 2003 Boxster S if this makes a difference. A quick search reveals lots of info on the front release but not the rear.

Try pressing down on the boot when you press the release, it may release the tension.

I tried that and the Porsche bloke advised that on the phone. Won't release. Got the rear wheel liner off, well, dislodged enough to peer above the exhaust, can't see a release cable. Perhaps it's on the driver's side.

Edit: Found it. It was on the n/s but I had to prise the end of the bumper trim away (after undoing a screw) to see it. Managed to get the end of a coathanger on it. (I couldn't work out how to get the rear wheelarch liner completely out.) Pressing the fob button and pulling VERY hard released it. Must lube it if I can.

Problem now is that I can't shut it until I replace the solenoid because it has no latch position like the front. Perhaps someone will come round and check my oil for me in the night. shoot

I've parked behind my gates for now, and disconnected the rear luggage light although I think it goes off on its own after about 5 mins (?).
