Anyone out there tracked there gen 1 cayman s ? I am thinking of giving it a go in mine to see if I like the feel of it on track or miss the hot hatch front wheel drive cars ? What if any mods are required (dont want to go mad in case I sell the car soon ), I am a bit nervous going to a track with this car only tracked wifes mini cooper s before ?

No mods required to any car for the occasional track day in my opinion. Just the usual checks for safety and remember which components might need rest e.g. tyres, brakes etc.

They're pretty good stock but you may want to consider fitting a sump extension kit from Autofarm to help combat the dreaded oil surge issue

Done a couple of track days in mine (completely stock) and to be honest the car was far more capable than me smile Tyres took some stick on a warm day but everything else was fine (was particularly impressed with the brakes). I did take it to a local specialist for a good checkover beforehand, just for peace of mind.

Feeling the balance of the car on the limit was great fun - it's worth leaving the PSM on for the first few laps while you build up confidence (if you have Sports Chrono, sport mode will let you get really quite out of shape before it kicks in and saves you!) driving

Enjoy smile

Hoping to do castle coombe in next few weeks, had the car checked over/serviced all well, might get the wheel alignment done as well. How many laps should I do before coming in to pits ? got some good advice off Pete Chambers of Tewkesbury.

PS Just hope it is dry during the day, the wet really scares me ! Still thinking about a Renault Megaune sport RS ? Safer/Easier to drive/cheaper to run but love the Porker !

I do Combe regularly and tend not to drive more than about 5-6 laps at a time.

If is does rain, be extra cautious as Combe is possibly one of the most slippery of circuits when wet.
