Hi All,

I am looking at Cayman R's and wondered was the LSD a standard fit item? Or was it an option only?

What other specs were of interest or would I want?

Finally what is the car like compared to a 981 Cayman?

Thanks

Jamie

I had the Boxster-Spyder - no air con, buckets, PCCB's, PSE, etc. Absolutely fantastic to drive. The Cayman R doesn't get me excited like the Spyder did, but can see the appeal with the tin roof.

LSD is standard - best Porsche.

Manual, bucket seats, aircon, Xenons, PCCB (??) Peridot Green would be my choice

Thanks all, you can't fit Xenons at the dealer can you? I have my eye on one but its not Xenons. Other than that I'd take it!

Not a deal breaker anyway. Is retrofit not an option? Probably silly money anyway

Don't think retro-fit possible. Better bulbs?

Air con/ PCM can be retro-fitted.

PSE & stop watch?

perhaps MrDemon can advise?

Tempted to wait for the new Cayman GTS but the price of R's is decidedly more inviting.....

cannot fit xenon with out new bumper and wash mech, levelers etc you can easy buy the lights but the rest of the bits not so easy so it would fail a MOT

hardly any have xenons.

for me to get best resale like I said with the 991 GT3 lot, got to have the buckets and got to have AC and SPyder wheels def help prices ;-)

my spec is very very high
Buckets seats
Spyder wheels
manual
AC
PSE
SS
Sports crono
full leather
BOSE
PCM

just missing xenons and PCCB.

every thing is nice to have, SS, PSE, Sports crono , wheels can all be retro fitted.
if the cars the right price, SS £450, crono £700, PSE 2.5k, wheels 5k, seats 6k you can add these as needed.

not sure what a GTS brings to the party, and cars will drop like any other, the steering is night and day better on the R.

The R is more hard core than people think imo a true drivers car and winner of drivers car of the year 2011
http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motoring/cayman-...

def under rated by EVO and by Chris Harris :-(
Prob a better car than the Spyder but less bespoke and collectable than a Spyder, but imo will go down as one of the last if not the last great driving Porsches in years to come. well one with the most feed back and less electronics in the mass of todays cars.

The cayman r is a nice little car it has to be admitted, definitely better than the 981 in the sense one feels more connected to the car IMO. However, with your garage, in all honesty I have to say I can't imagine you would get too excited by the R though. I had a go in one a couple of months ago and while it was nice enough, it felt nothing like as special as something like a 7.2 gt3. To be fair as well, it is also half the price of the gt3....

Only spec I would definitely want for a car would be bucket seats and a manual....

As a left field alternative the original Cayman S press car is for sale at Phil Raby's.
It has LSD, Manual (short shift), Buckets, Aircon, Sports Exhaust, PCCB, Leather interior,Bixenons and best of all - it's Viper Green.

That is a nice spec... Viper Green on a GT3 is awesome.

Though did you see the editorial comment in Evo where Chris Harris was asking if the Cayman R wasn't as fast as anybody could use on everyday roads ?

I believe by comparison to a 4.0 GT3 ??

Do you have a link to that? Or was it just in the magazine? I would be interested to read it - thanks!
