The eternal question, sorry folks.

Looks like I'm going to have to shell out for 4 tyres shortly on my 987.2S tyre sizes are:-

Front 235/35/19
Rear 265/35/19

Need to be N rated as the car is still in warranty, current shod with Goodyears, it's my daily driver to/from work spirited country lanes bit of motorway mainly.

And then where's the best deals (links) if at all possible

Cheers

Try ATS online for Pirelli P Zero N0 rated, pretty much the cheapest I found.

Just bought rears from Camskill for £144 each, Michelin's. Was best price I could find, 17" poverty spec on my car though but worth a look.

Don't rule out OPC- they may price match but they were once cheapest by miles for Michelins on my previous 911.

Different brands wear differently, I have Bridgestones on my Spyder which it came with new - they last more than twice as long as Michelins did on my 911 (not an entirely fair comparison I know) but some posters on here have also got through Pirellis very quickly on their Spyders.

The Bridgestones have been fine for me but some people don't rate them!

PS2s or PSS - Can be bought at reasonable prices from Camskill.

987.1 owner (on poverty 17s) which is shod with the same.

With Rob on this - I like the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A n1 fitted to my 997. Good prices from Oponeo mail order too. If you're tied to N rated, I reckon they are well worth considering.

While we are at it, has anyone got 888s on their Boxster / Cayman? Any reason not to do it? Would be on a Cayman S Sport with 19" wheels and PASM. Any other suggestions for track orientated tyres?

(I live somewhere rather dry, do a lot of trackdays and next to zero road miles)

Thanks

I don't have any experience of 888's on my CS, but have used them on my track Evo for a number of years. Apart from the obvious increase in grip, there is little if any other advantages. They are very noisy, they follow the contours of the road and don't like standing water (although that last point may not concern you according to your post).

A better choice may be Yokohama AD08R's. Not as track focused as 888's but still more grip than your average summer tyre and they last longer than 888's too.

Michelin technical support recommend the Pilot Super Sport now over the PS2s, apparently there are significant improvements in grip and handling and no real disadvantages - but I advent tried them; if anyone has experience please share?

While Michelin technical support recommend the Pilot Super Sport , Porsche don't so you cannot fit them.

I have fitted them or in the process of finding some one to fit them :-)

But my last 2 cars had Pilot SS and they are just awesome tyres even over PS2's.

I would avoid R888, they are a old slow tyre vs all the new brands of track tyre.
